Recommended Reading: Our Bodies, Ourselves

I don’t usually recommend obituaries, but this woman is worth knowing about. Paula Doress-Worters helped author Our Bodies, Ourselves, a book I first read in 1978.

The book was instrumental in helping women understand their own bodies and changed the relationship between women and the healthcare system, turning female patients into informed participants who shared in decision making. Paula wrote about postpartum depression when it was an unmentionable topic. Her research on her own suffering helped countless women.
